Goldfrapp
Here's a pencil sketch of Alison Goldfrapp, really enjoyed this, it took just over an hour, and I only used an HB pencil to do it, up yours college tutors who told me I had to use a variety of pencil weights (only joking, much love)! I may have to start trying to do more of these in my lunch hour at work.

Multi purpose
Sorry for the poor quality of image again, but I don't have access to the scanner again tonight, hopefully have a decent version of this image uploaded some time within the next 24 hours as I'm quite pleased with it. It's basically an image created using a mix of some of the styles used on images posted on this blog. And is something I'm looking to explore more fully over larger pieces in future.
Just got to find me some massive cardboard boxes to paint on...

Annoyed
Here's an image of the main character of a graphic novel I've been planning for several years, and a good example of why it will probably never come to be, namely that it's RUBBISH!
Every time I sit down and spend time on producing a decent image it inevitably ends up looking terrible and with me feeling fed up with a lack of any comic drawing ability.
Still it was about all I could produce today so that's why it's up here.
I'm off to sulk.

Studies..
I walked past an art exhibition on the way home today which (from the outside of the gallery at least) appeared to consist solely of images of skulls. As a result it reminded me of one of my college tutors favourite things to give her students as a life studies object; a cat skull. The form of it always used to fascinate me so I thought I would try a swift illustrator version of an image of one I found on the web.
I think it turned out pretty well, and it made me want to revisit studying found objects in a traditional media. Now I just have to find me a cat skull...

Freaks and geeks
I thought I would try a continual drawing of a bunch of characters that came into my head as I was drawing them, I thought it would be quite a simple and quick, but fun, thing to do. It took longer than I thought and my character pool dried up pretty early into production. Still I chugged on through and I'm fairly happy with the end result.

And another one...
As I was out today I've had to resort to posting another oldie. This is a T-shirt design I planned based on putting the four face markings of 'Kiss' on Pandas, I've since tried to work this idea in other ways, but this was the furthest through a design I ever got.
One day I may finish the idea if someone doesn't do it better first (though it's probably already been done a million times). Oh well I'm off to watch The Wire.

Child soldier
Here's another piece in the 'paint by numbers' style, but done by hand and not on the computer. I'm yet to get bored of it and there are still a few things I would like try before I move, so expect to see a few more pieces over the coming weeks.
I would be interested to know what people think of this particular style, if they like it or not and any ideas.
'Til next time. Take it easy.
Argh!
Argh (again)! Wnet out for a friends birthday drinks and got back too late to post an image, I've already failed my one a day image thing, but I'm going to stick with it and post two images today instead.
This first one is an illustration I did for WPT Poker magazine, didn't have time to finish it to a 100% satisfactory level, but still pretty pleased with it...

Brrrr
In honour of the Big Freeze and at my brother's suggestion I have just 'finished' (read, got bored of) a cold weather based scribble. Seeing as the cold snap has passed now (at least it has in London) the sentiment seems a little empty.
Still, I produced it, so up it goes. This took several hours doing bits here and there over the course of the past week.

Phillip Potter the degenerate lightbulb.
The lightbulb in my room died today, so I thought I would design a tribute.
Also I realised yesterday my comment about my 'followers' may have seemed a tad sarcastic, it wasn't meant to be I'm genuinely touched that people would decide to follow my 'lil ol' blog (even if I bribed most of them to.)
And another thing, you probably notice I haven't put up any particularly taxing pieces yet, only little odd jobs and half finished pieces, trust me I am working on larger scale works but these will understandably take a while.
Peas out y'all.
PS. I used a font I'm not proud of in this work, Brush Script, it should NOT be used under any circumstances except old fashioned shop fronts a la 'Open All Hours'. I will rid this world of the use of tacky fonts one typeface at a time.
PPS. Use Arial rounded instead of Comic Sans, it's not perfect but at least it tries.

First of 365 (I hope)
Happy new year, to anyone who maybe following this blog (no-one then).
This image is the first of a new project I have given myself to upload one image a day for the next year. The images will range in media, style and subject and hopefully improve as the year goes on. The project idea is hardly an original one, but I hope that if I get into the routine of doing it then I will improve the quality and quantity of stuff I produce and hopefully start enjoying myself more than feeling like it's a chore, which it sometimes does.
Anyway, this first piece is a biro and coloured pencil piece and took approximately 45 minutes to finish.
Here's to a happy 2010, God bless.
S.
